Tragedy continued to haunt NASCAR nation as Davey Allison died from injuries suffered in a helicopter accident in the infield at Talladega. As NASCAR attempted to cope with these losses, the racing continued. In typical Talladega style, the racing was fierce for the DieHard 500. The lead changed four times in the final lap alone.
